Lil Wayne Interviews: U Turn To Be MONUMENTAL: As Nicki Minaj notes in Kanye West’s “Monster” (download it free HERE), the Young Money roster is stacked – a “monster crew,” she calls it. And with the likes of her and Drake, there’s no question about it. But Young Money just isn’t Young Money without Lil’ Wayne.
The imprisoned rapper is the leader of Yong Money, and though Lil’ Wayne will release I’m Not A Human Being on his birthday, September 25, Nicki Minaj claims that even that will be nothing compared to what Lil’ Wayne will have in store after he is released from Rikers Island.“I’m afraid for…any of his competition when he gets out, because I just feel like it’s going to be monumental,” said Minaj.Minaj also noted that in the absence of Lil’ Wayne, she and the rest of Young Money have realized just how much they miss Weezy.

“We didn’t realize Wayne is really the glue that holds Young Money and Cash Money together, I feel,” Minaj explained. “it’s kind of crazy how much of a void it’s been without him.”Young Money prides itself on being a family, so it’s not surprising that pissing such a big piece has such a significant effect. According to Minaj, though, she wasn’t the only one making big realizations – she said Lil’ Wayne seems to have had a mental breakthrough as well.
“When I speak to him, he sounds like he has some sort of clear understanding of everything now, almost like he’s had some weird sort of epiphany since he’s been there,” said Minaj. “I’m sure his stuff is only going to get better.”
And speaking of material, Minaj said that she has been working hard on hers and is determined to make an impression. And it’s not just for herself – Minaj wants to do it for all the girls out there. “I hope it will open doors for all girls everywhere who ever wanted to pick up a mic and rap and who have been kind of afraid to do it,” explained Minaj. “For a long time in my life, I was afraid to be a solo female rapper, because everyone told me, ‘It doesn’t work.’”According to Minaj, it can happen, if you are determined enough. The rapper points to Drake and Lil’ Wayne as examples of that.
“We’re just really, really hard workers…at some point, I would hope the hard work pays off, at least on my end,” said Minaj. “It’s definitely already paid off for Wayne and for Drake.”Hard to argue with that. Big breakthrough or not, Minaj said she is still eagerly awaiting the return of Lil’ Wayne. “I’m just very, very thankful that he’s finally coming home,” she said. “Can you only imagine what he’s been holding and what’s building up in that brain?”
