The official Word is that Lil Wayne's Vancouver concert was cancelled due to doctor's orders, but that hasn't stopped speculation that the rapper known as Weezy ran into legal trouble at the border.
"Lil Wayne, due to illness, was advised by his doctors to cancel the Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Music Festival tour stops in Western Canada," said a statement by tour organizers.
Vancouver's Aug. 17 show was cancelled -- just hours before the Grammy-award winner was expected to take the stage at GM Place -- as was Edmonton's Aug. 18 date.
"Wayne, his band and crew arrived in Canada with full intention of performing but were forced to cancel the dates due to doctor-mandated rest.
However another performer on the tour fuelled speculation about trouble at the border on her Twitter account.
Nicki Minaj wrote on her Twitter account about arriving in Canada around 3 p.m. Soon after, she wrote about one of the tour buses undergoing a search.
"They got the other bus under pressure right now . . . n--z brought the dogs out and s--t . . . smh (shaking my head)," she wrote.
The tour, also featuring Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy and Drake, is set to resume Aug. 20 in Englewood, Colo.
This isn't the first time Lil Wayne has had to cancel a concert in Canada. Appearances in Toronto and Montreal last summer were cancelled "due to unknown circumstances."
