Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters boys are set to perform at the 54th annual Grammys this weekend, and up until now, it wasn’t clear with whom they will perform. As it turns out, the Foos will rock the same stage as an interesting mix of electronica and hip-hop acts, including Deadmau5, Chris Brown, David Guetta and Lil Wayne. The guys will rock out in an intimate, open-air tent space outside of Los Angeles’ Staples Center with an audience of 1,000 fans. Will it work? Find out Sunday (Feb. 12).
Foo Fighters and Deadmau5 (pronounced dead mouse) will perform a remixed version of the band’s hit rock single, “Rope,” which netted Grohl and the crew a Grammy nomination this year. In the same space, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne will perform with Guetta. The Foo Fighters are up for Grammys in six categories this year, including Album of the Year for their much-celebrated disc, “Wasting Light.” No stranger to the Grammys, Foo Fighters have won a total of six Grammy Awards over the course of their career. Maybe they’ll double that this weekend.
Other performers scheduled to play at the show include Bruce Springsteen, Chris Brown, Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift. Popular neo-soul singer Adele will also make her first live performance since having surgery on her vocals chords last year. The “Someone Like You” singer will appear in a “60 Minutes” special with Anderson Cooper airing before the Grammys, and the two will talk about that scary period of losing her voice.
