Lil Wayne Launches ‘Weezy’s Sports Corner’ Web Based Sports ShowLil Wayne’s love of sport has led the rapper to create a new weekly web series where he will comment on his favorite games. Weezy will be bringing to the series his experience from ESPN where he’s appeared on a number debate shows and handled his own blog.

The rapper has already launched the first episode of ‘Weezy’s Sports Corner’ which will air every Saturday and cover a wide range of topics in the world of sport. “Sports only. …This will be an unscripted show, unrehearsed show. I’ll talk about whatever I want to talk about. I’ll talk freely. If they have guests, they can speak freely, and they can talk about whatever they want to talk about,” Weezy explained.

In the first episode, Weezy appears surrounded by his collection of skateboards and football paraphernalia to talk about everything from the NBA to skate boarding. Future episodes could end up having a fan driven component as the rapper invited his viewers to post questions on his Facebook page and said that he would answer the most interesting ones every week.

The rapper first revealed his love of sports when he released his mixtape ‘The Dedication 2′ in 2006 which included the track ‘SportCenter,’ and after ESPN learned that his interest was reciprocated by a number of Major League Baseball players, who listened to Weezy during their batting practice, the network invited him to write for the digital version of their magazine in 2008.

While Lil Wayne’s love of skateboarding is well-known, the rapper has previously indicated that he has a favorite team in every sport. In his first ESPN blog, Weezy even wrote about his respect for Rafael Nadal after a review of the 2008 Wimbledon Championship.

Lil Wayne and Drake hook up with bevy of women for dinner By Lesley AbravanelIn celebration of his album Take Care going platinum, Drake had dinner Wednesday night with pal Lil Wayne at Prime 112, joined by a group of friends including some “very good looking women.” On Thursday, Drake was seen lunching at sister restaurant Prime Italian. Bachelor Pad contestant Gia Allemand and her beau, Orlando Magic star Ryan Anderson, were spotted Sunday at The Fontainebleau’s Bleau Bar after a day spent poolside at the hotel.

The two shared drinks inside for a few hours in the late afternoon, but a snafu with Allemand’s credit card caused them to opt for cash to settle the tab. Alex Rodriguez requested 10 cases of Vita Coco Pure coconut water this week to stock his personal fridge over the holidays. New tagline for the beverage: Blondes Must Drink More Vita Coco. In town for his jazz concert Tuesday at the Fillmore, Woody Allen, decked out in a suit, had lunch Tuesday at Zuma with his wife Soon-Yi and cable TV heir Edward Walson. Allen, who once said “I want my food dead — not sick, not wounded — dead,” had miso marinated black cod and artichoke.

NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya teamed up with Oakley on Saturday to inaugurate the opening of the new Oakley store in Pembroke Pines where NASCAR fans were able to meet with and snag Montoya’s autograph.Rapper Fat Joe was spotted Saturday at STK with, says our spy, “a pretty female companion,” sharing new chef Aaron Taylor’s surf & turf for two with truffles and sipping pinot noir. The duo was overheard discussing the state of Haiti since the 2010 earthquake. Also seen at the restaurant: rapper Lil Jon. Miami Heat players have teamed up with FedEx to host the HEAT Holiday Hospital Visit Saturday afternoon at the Holtz Children’s Hospital where they go room to room handing out toys. Michael Jordan was seen sipping a gin and tonic Wednesday at Segafredo on Lincoln Road with four guy pals. Young Jeezy was seen Saturday night at Philippe, where he walked in just before closing. The chef stayed after the restaurant closed and made sure he and his huge entourage were well fed.

Drake, Lil Wayne, Tyga Tribute West Coast In 'The Motto' Video

Posted in : Albums, Videos

(added few months ago!)

Drake is from Toronto and Lil Wayne is from New Orleans, but the duo’s new music video pays homage to another region: the West Coast. The music video for “The Motto,” features Drake, Wayne and Young Money rapper Tyga. “Rest in peace Mac Dre, I’ma do it for the Bay,” Drake spits as the likes of E-40 and Mistah FAB look on in the background.

The song, which takes aesthetic cues from the Bay Area’s hyphy movement, is an iTunes bonus cut from Drake’s latest album Take Care, which was recently certified platinum and featured on RapFix’s 5 Best Hip-Hop Albums of the year list. Previous music videos from the album include “Marvin’s Room” and “Headlines,” which were both released before the disc hit stores in November.

“The Motto” originally turned some heads with lyrics directed at Uncle Luke. The former 2 Live Crew member issued a warning for Wayne and “his Cash Money Brothers” to give back to the Miami community they enjoy, or “have their Miami cards revoked.” In return, Drake quipped, “Tell Uncle Luke I’m out in Miami too/Clubbin’ hard, f---in’ women, there ain’t much to do/Wrist bling, got a condo up in Biscayne…ain’t sh—change.” The rebuttals didn’t continue afterward, though.

Drake told MTV News that he also plans to shoot a music video for the Rihanna-featured title track. "It's a project where I think visuals are called for, for a lot of those records," Drake said of his sophomore album. "So we're working on definitely the "Take Care" video, which we're trying to get shot soon and a couple of other ones, too, off the album."

Lil Wayne Is Our #3 Top Newsmaker Of 2011

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

Lil Wayne Is Our %233 Top Newsmaker Of 2011It's a common misconception that going to jail can make a rapper hot. Other than Tupac, who emerged from his mid-1990s prison bid a bigger star than he was when he went in, most artists struggle to develop post-prison musical dominance: Shyne has yet to capitalize on his almost nine-year bid, Gucci Mane has spent most of the year behind bars, and T.I. is just now starting to put his troubles behind him.

Credit Lil Wayne with beating the odds and becoming one of MTV News' #3 Top Newsmaker of the Year. When you think of the Best Artists of 2011 — Lady Gaga, Adele, Katy Perry, the Throne — none of them had to face what Wayne did.

It was November 4, 2010, when Weezy was released from his eight-month prison bid for attempted gun possession — not much time to prepare for the year to come. Still, when it was all said and done, Wayne's Tha Carter IV dominated charts, and his I Am Still Music Tour — which consisted of 78 shows across Africa, Australia and North America — grossed more than $47 million. Weezy practically lived on the Billboard charts, and Nicki Minaj and Drake, two artists signed to his Young Money record label, left a huge stamp on the past 12 months as well.

Not long after the curtain closed on 2010, fans were anticipating Tha Carter IV. And while it took a little longer than first predicted, Wayne was far from a musical recluse. On January 3, Chris Brown tweeted a link to his now-omnipresent hit "Look at Me Now," and while the spacey smash might have been a winner on its own, Wayne's appearance on the third verse damn-near guaranteed tens of thousands of radio spins.

In March, Tunechi premiered his "Inception"-inspired Carter IV video for "6 Foot 7 Foot" on MTV. A few weeks later, MTV News was there as the YM general opened his I Am Still Music Tour in Rhode Island, and we checked in on him as he eventually took his concert across the world.

Weezy's live show set him apart from the rest of the year's artists. Aside from his own tour, MTV saw Wayne play Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and Bamboozle, and he even had his own "MTV Unplugged" special in June. Oh yeah, and Tunechi closed out this year's MTV Video Music Awards with a rocked-out stage show.

Then, when the moment of truth finally arrived, Weezy dropped Tha Carter IV on August 29, and fans ate it up — 964,000 of them during its first week on shelves. Of course, we partied with him the night of the album's release.

It's hard to deny a guy who dominated radio with his own singles ("How to Love" and "She Will") as well as with songs he was featured on (Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now," Kelly Rowland's "Motivation" and DJ Khaled's "I'm On One"). It's hard to deny a guy who mixed rap, rock and pop in his 2011 live shows, bringing fans of multiple genres together. And it's hard to deny a guy who guided the careers of both Nicki Minaj and Drake — two superstars in their own right.

There is no science to why Wayne is so successful. Artists like Jay-Z and Kanye West or Katy Perry and Britney Spears come off as far more calculated, while most times, Weezy seemingly wings it. What other MC would wear animal-print jeggings during the VMAs just minutes before his album is released?

Tune doesn't care, though. It's Wayne's world, and we all just live in it. Makes you wonder what would happen if Katy Perry ever gets locked up ...

Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne Receive "Teacher of the Year" Awards

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

This is sure to tilt some heads, but a Florida education company has announced that rappers Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne are to receive their first annual "Teacher of the Year" awards. The South Florida-based Better Education Place named the two as the Best Male and Best Female Teacher after judging them on several categories and deeming them more influential than the teachers who actually commit themselves to children's education.

Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne Receive Teacher of the Year Awards

"Apparently students are drawn in by the ‘swagger,’" says Melvin El, president of Better Education Place. "If you are a teacher today and you don’t have any swagger you are going to struggle to get your students attention. It turns out a teacher can learn a lot from Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj."Because the company encourages the hip hop to make education fun, they've deemed rappers worthy of receiving the awards.

Do you think Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne deserve the title "Teacher of the Year?"

Lil Wayne Copycat Urges Weezy To 'Respect Africa'

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

Lil Wayne did not get into a fight in South Africa, despite reports to the contrary. The Young Money CEO was said to have slapped a copycat act called Lil Nucho at a nightclub, but the alleged victim has come forward and said it did not happen.

Lil Wayne Copycat Urges Weezy To 'Respect Africa'

Weezy and Lil Nucho were allegedly in an "altercation" at a club in which Lil Wayne asked the South African rapper to leave because his presence "upset him". That much is true, according to Lil Nucho. However, the reports that Weezy later got into a fight with Lil Nucho and slapped him, are not true.

As with every story, there are bits and pieces of truth and also pieces that were embellished for entertainment purposes. If Lil Wayne had slapped his copycat, surely someone would have gotten the footage on video.

Lil Nucho is taking his newfound fame in stride and is now writing a song that "urges Lil Wayne to respect Africa."So, that pretty much means that he thinks Weezy wasn't very hospitable to the country. Telling someone to leave a club, just because they're bothering you, isn't too nice, so you can kind of see where Lil Nucho is coming from.
